La Familia de Marquez

More family...yes, we have a lot of family. Some blood relatives, some by marriage and just some who we like to add to the family because they make us look good. When I did the post on my extended family, I didn't include my husbands side, for a couple reasons: I was focused on my parents' families and it would have taken an entire page!

My kiddos are blessed with aunties and uncles that truly love them, and their Aunt Paula and Aunt Shell (Michelle) love them so much. They have an awesome uncle, Uncle Terraine, who loves them and they think is so cool. Their cousins in order of age: Michael, Terraine Jr., Hope, Teriyah and now Elijah, they just adore them. Unfortunately, we live so far away from them now so it isn't often we get to see them.

My kids also have their great-grandmother Esther (who they happened to talk to last night) who loves them and prays for them continually. Their grandparents, Ron and Debbie, who love them but because of life circumstances do not see them very often.  They have cousins, who are really daddy's cousins, like Priscella , Anna and Chris, Aunt Norma (who was Levi's kindergarten teacher), Matthew, Leonard...boy I could go on! My kids have so many fond memories of this side of the family because everyone treated them with patience, respect and most of all tons of love. In essence, they were spoiled! But, hey, what is family for? I am so thankful for them and their love towards me and my children!

Let me preface everything I am about to say by saying, I have the most wonderful, intelligent, beautiful, talented children ever created! (now I've lost you because your thinking, she's wrong, I do, your right, you do too!) So why is it that they can also be the complete opposite(at times)? Why do I have to tell the same child everyday to not bring a blanket to the table. I tell them "Please get dressed before you come eat." An anniversary, a birthday and a birth defect??

You are probably wondering what that is all about. Right?? Well, on Wednesday, Ashley came running into the house crying, not screaming, just crying. She had tripped over Zoey's (our dog) leash and scraped her arm. Not a big deal, no blood. However, on closer examination, I noticed a lump on her elbow, as if her arm was out of socket. Strange, I never noticed that before and she wasn't screaming out in pain. So, being the worrisome mom that I am, I called the doctor. Of course they said bring her in. So off to Kaiser we go, first to be seen by a doctor(who wasn't even going to do an x-ray until I persisted), then to Radiology for x-rays, back to the same doctor who was surprised there was actually a reason to do the x-ray. She then told me that her radius was not in the right place and it could be the result of an injury prior to that day or from birth(which would be considered a birth defect). Home Again, Home Again, Jiggety Jig!!!

We arrived home late Sunday night after what seemed like a year away from home. (Actually it was a little over three weeks.) We left on the 7th of August at about 4 pm and drove to Grants Pass. We stayed the night there, getting up the next morning and continuing on to Portland. We got to Portland about 3pm, spent the evening hanging out at my brother's house and getting ready for the next day. Saturday the 9th, we celebrated my littlest nephew, Judah Milo Carlson's first birthday. His actual birthday is the 14th but for sake of family and friends we had the party that Saturday. My brother's church family came and then some of his family and some of my sister in laws family came. We bar-b-qued and played games, but mostly just talked. Then the next day was church. We went to church with them, they go to the Gleason's church in Oregon City. They are very sweet people. I love Sis. Gleason, she always has the kindest words to say.
