The Art of Being Thankful

Ah November, how I love thee! You bring me my favorite holiday: Thanksgiving! To celebrate, each day this month (hopefully), I will bring you a post stating the things/people/places, etc., that I am thankful for. Yesterday, I stated I am thankful for ALL of my friends. There will be no specific order to my posts, just what pops into my head.

Fortunately, I have A LOT to be thankful for. However, for me, it is not only about the what but the why. The bible tells us that we should be, Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Eph. 5:20. Being thankful should be a way of life. This is the art of thankfulness: being thankful in good times and in, not so good times.
I am thankful in it all. You know why? Because I have God. My hope is in Him and I know He is holding my hand through times of peace and in times of trial. Therefore, the core of my thankfulness is Jesus Christ my Savior. For in him we live, and move, and have our being... Acts 17:28.

Thank you, Jesus, for being the center of my joy!

I have much to be thankful myself. If I could only begin to write all that God has brought me through and all that HE has brought me from. I will forever be greateful toward my precious Saviour... For in HIM my life is complete.

I will also try and post my daily thanksgiving, not on any one thing but what has transpired in my daily routine or what 'POPS' into my head, lol...

Yes, please do Sis Ruby! I would love to read everything you have to be thankful for.
And anything we can do to honor Jesus, is wonderful in my book! I believe He is pleased when we are thankful even in the little things!

An anniversary, a birthday and a birth defect??

You are probably wondering what that is all about. Right?? Well, on Wednesday, Ashley came running into the house crying, not screaming, just crying. She had tripped over Zoey's (our dog) leash and scraped her arm. Not a big deal, no blood. However, on closer examination, I noticed a lump on her elbow, as if her arm was out of socket. Strange, I never noticed that before and she wasn't screaming out in pain. So, being the worrisome mom that I am, I called the doctor. Of course they said bring her in. So off to Kaiser we go, first to be seen by a doctor(who wasn't even going to do an x-ray until I persisted), then to Radiology for x-rays, back to the same doctor who was surprised there was actually a reason to do the x-ray. She then told me that her radius was not in the right place and it could be the result of an injury prior to that day or from birth(which would be considered a birth defect). Home Again, Home Again, Jiggety Jig!!!

We arrived home late Sunday night after what seemed like a year away from home. (Actually it was a little over three weeks.) We left on the 7th of August at about 4 pm and drove to Grants Pass. We stayed the night there, getting up the next morning and continuing on to Portland. We got to Portland about 3pm, spent the evening hanging out at my brother's house and getting ready for the next day. Saturday the 9th, we celebrated my littlest nephew, Judah Milo Carlson's first birthday. His actual birthday is the 14th but for sake of family and friends we had the party that Saturday. My brother's church family came and then some of his family and some of my sister in laws family came. We bar-b-qued and played games, but mostly just talked. Then the next day was church. We went to church with them, they go to the Gleason's church in Oregon City. They are very sweet people. I love Sis. Gleason, she always has the kindest words to say.
