Christmas Day!

As excited I was for Christmas to be here, I am equally excited that it is over. Sounds strange, huh? Well, honestly, I love the New Year, every year! I love a fresh start, clean slate and schedules!!! I thrive on schedules! I am very ready for my kids to return to school and get back into routine. So this will be the last reflecting post of Christmas and all it's happenings for the year. It will mostly include pictures with a short summary describing the picture. Sorry, but I am ready to move on. Christmas was wonderful but it's done! The first few pictures are from Christmas morning:

Christmas evening we spent with my parents' pastor and his family, the Goodwins. Also there were the Whitleys, Smiths and Bro. Scott. It was quite fun. We ate, talked, ate a little more, laughed, ate a little more, played a game and probably ate a bit more. Here are a few pics:

And while the monkeys were off playing, the Goodwins babysat Molly and Emily. They did such a wonderful job! Thank you!

The day after Christmas, that evening rather, we went to see the lights at Shore Acres, which is located right on the ocean.The Smiths went with us and I finally got a picture of her looking at the camera. (Christmas was quite comical trying to take her picture).


For those of you wondering why we didn't send out Christmas pictures this year, well, take a good long look at this picture. Merry Christmas, this is your picture. Can you see what I went through trying to get a good pic of my kids this year? There's always one goofy kid in the crowd! 

Not exactly sure what is going on here. Myles and Ash look scared and Elle is probably the one scaring them! Ha! And Ashley's bow is sliding down her head...oh a picture truly paints a thousand words!

Let me preface everything I am about to say by saying, I have the most wonderful, intelligent, beautiful, talented children ever created! (now I've lost you because your thinking, she's wrong, I do, your right, you do too!) So why is it that they can also be the complete opposite(at times)? An anniversary, a birthday and a birth defect??

You are probably wondering what that is all about. Right?? Well, on Wednesday, Ashley came running into the house crying, not screaming, just crying. She had tripped over Zoey's (our dog) leash and scraped her arm. Not a big deal, no blood. However, on closer examination, I noticed a lump on her elbow, as if her arm was out of socket. Strange, I never noticed that before and she wasn't screaming out in pain. So, being the worrisome mom that I am, I called the doctor. Of course they said bring her in. So off to Kaiser we go, first to be seen by a doctor(who wasn't even going to do an x-ray until I persisted), then to Radiology for x-rays, back to the same doctor who was surprised there was actually a reason to do the x-ray. She then told me that her radius was not in the right place and it could be the result of an injury prior to that day or from birth(which would be considered a birth defect). Home Again, Home Again, Jiggety Jig!!!

We arrived home late Sunday night after what seemed like a year away from home. (Actually it was a little over three weeks.) We left on the 7th of August at about 4 pm and drove to Grants Pass. We stayed the night there, getting up the next morning and continuing on to Portland. We got to Portland about 3pm, spent the evening hanging out at my brother's house and getting ready for the next day. Saturday the 9th, we celebrated my littlest nephew, Judah Milo Carlson's first birthday. His actual birthday is the 14th but for sake of family and friends we had the party that Saturday. My brother's church family came and then some of his family and some of my sister in laws family came. We bar-b-qued and played games, but mostly just talked. Then the next day was church. We went to church with them, they go to the Gleason's church in Oregon City. They are very sweet people. I love Sis. Gleason, she always has the kindest words to say.
