A Repost From Another Blog...

No worries, though, I am the author of this post. Therefore, it is perfectly legit. What some of you may not know is that I am one of four authors on a blog titled In God We Trust. This particular blog post was dated July 21, 2011. Unfortunately, I am not as active as I would like to be but I plan on participating more. In this blog post, I give a brief account of how God used our family to bring salvation to another family...in an interesting way. Here is the original publication, in the end, I will provide a few more details:

Have you ever watched scripture fulfilled right before your eyes? Likely, you have heard the verses from Luke chapter 11 many times. 9) And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10)For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Just recently, this very thing happened in my life. We moved to Oregon in February of this year after living in Washington for seven months (that is another story for another day). After arriving, we feverishly searched for a house. Finally, we found one in the “perfect” location, situated right behind my kids’ schools. Everything seemed to be going smoothly until the day before we were to move in. I called and the woman (homeowner) changed her mind! What??? Everything pointed to this being the perfect house! After a few tears (okay, many tears), we went searching again…sigh! The next morning we checked out some townhomes. Now I am not opposed to apartments, townhomes, condos, etc., however, keep in mind I have FOUR children. We took a tour and I was pleasantly surprised. These townhomes spanned nearly 1600 sq. ft. and the one we were hoping to get would be set facing the beautiful hills behind us. To make a long story short, we moved in two days later.
Now you are probably wondering how this scripture in Luke plays in, right? Well during the time we were looking for a place to live, there was a young mother calling out to God, asking him to help her find a church. She was raised a Christian, but now was living here in Oregon, far away from her family in New Mexico. She had been asking, seeking, knocking and God in His great love and mercy heard her cry. He changed our situation and opened a door for her. She lives in the apartment below us and we met under unusual circumstances (funny how God does that) but her and her fiancé now call our church home, and two weeks ago, he was baptized in the precious name of Jesus.
Although, God changed our situation and at one point, I even felt quite abandoned, He was responding to the pleas of this young woman. She asked and received, she sought and found, she knocked and God opened the door! The word of God never fails!

The additional information as of today: July 23, 2012.

This family is now a member of our church here in Oregon. Gustavo, Jasmine and Star (their almost three year old daughter) attend regularly and God has done amazing things in their lives. Jasmine (the mother) received the Holy Ghost in August of last year. While she was seeking for the Holy Ghost, my little Ashley was praying for her. As I prayed, I looked over and God was also filling Ashley with the Holy Ghost! It was the most precious moment.

The "unusual circumstances" we met under, now seem comical and we all laugh about it. Apparently, my children were not used to living in a place where our neighbor lived below us. Neither were they aware of the fact that when they jump or run, that said neighbor could hear it. This happened to be during spring break and my kids were up playing Hide n Seek. I received a knock on the door with a not-so-happy young woman standing there. She informed me that she had to work and she has a young child trying to sleep. I apologized and reigned my munchkins in. We had a long talk about living above other people. A few days later, my girls were outside playing. Jasmine happened to be outside with Star. Star immediately took to Elle and Ashley. As I began to talk to Jasmine, she related her story to me. She had been praying and asking God to help her find a church. She asked me where we went to church. I thought it was interesting that she knew we went to church without even asking if we did. She told me later that she knew because I did not get angry with her when she came to my door the first night. She did not come to church immediately because her fiance (now husband) was Catholic. A couple months later and several visits, just showing God's love, she called to tell me they were going to come to church that day. Well, I happened to be in Arizona at the time visiting my grandfather. Ronnie was the only one home. He called and told me they came. He said they were very receptive and God moved in their lives that day. Not long after, they were both baptized. He actually was baptized before her and received the Holy Ghost before her too. It has been an amazing journey, just watching their lives unfold and blossom. God is so good and I pray He uses us again and again...there are SO many hungry people!

Thank you, Kim! This is an amazing story of God's love and His children obeying His commandments. This will inspire and encourage others to just be bold with their love for God and show their love to everyone!

Absolutely! Showing God's love is the greatest commandment yet many do not realize that. The bible tells us that if we do not love our brothers and sisters, and we say we love God, then we are liars. Wow! That is a mighty powerful statement. I don't want this family to be the last that God allows us to touch. I want God's love spill off me and splash everyone I come in contact with. Love you much, Tena!
